Dorothy E. Medeiros
Dorothy Elizabeth (Coelho) Medeiros, 76, of Middleboro, died on May 19, 2008 in the Jordan Hospital, Plymouth, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 11, 1931 in Fall River, daughter of the late Antone R. and Margaret (Ainsworth) Coelho, attended area schools and was a graduate of Durfee High School, Class of 1949. Prior to her marriage, she worked at the Fall River Electric Light Co. Mrs. Medeiros was a graduate of Bridgewater State College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Education (MEd) both in education. A special education teacher, Mrs. Medeiros taught in Franklin, Taunton and later Lakeville, where she served for 18 years before retiring. In retirement, Mrs. Medeiros traveled throughout the world, visiting all seven continents. She enjoyed cross-country skiing and bird watching, was a member of the Mass. Cross-Country Ski Club, the Mass. Audubon Society, the Cape Cod Bird Club and the Cabot Club, where she served as past president. Beloved wife of the late Dennis Silvia Medeiros. Devoted mother of Deborah Medeiros of State College, PA, Dale Harrison of Pembroke, Dennis Medeiros of Hanson, Diane Medeiros of Middleboro, Donna Waldrop of Taos, NM, Dorothy Medeiros-Bergen of Walpole, Darlene Ferrante of Carver and Donald Medeiros of Little Compton, RI. Loving sister of Margaret Menard of Merrit Island, FL, William Coelho of Merrimack, NH and the late Patricia Gray. Also survived by 15 grandchildren. Funeral from the O’Neill Funeral Home, 59 Peirce Street, Middleboro, Friday at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Calling hours Thursday, 4-8 p.m. Interment Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton, RI.
