    Helen Louise Scholle Hirlinger, 95, of Boonville died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Cooper County Memorial Hospital.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at William Wood Funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville.

    Helen grew up in Boonville, graduating from Boonville High School in 1927.

    On Aug. 27, 1931, in Boonville, Helen was united in marriage to Kenneth Hirlinger Sr., and to this union, two children were born.

    For more than 50 years until her retirement, Helen owned and operated the Hirlinger Book Store in Boonville.

    She was born Sept. 11, 1909, in Boonville to George and Amanda Underforth Scholle.

    She was a lifelong member of United Church of Christ and the Royal Neighbors. She was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

    She is survived by one son, Kenneth Hirlinger Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Boonville; one daughter, Kay Hirlinger of Boonville; three grandchildren, Kristen Hirlinger of Boonville, Douglas Hirlinger of Philadelphia and Brandon Dodson of Columbia; one great-grandchild, Derian Dodson of New Franklin; one sister, Bertha Dungan of Cape Coral, Fla.; three nieces; three nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

    Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, on June 25, 1967; one sister; and seven brothers.
