- JOHN E. YANKONEWPORT NEWS - Mr. John Edward Yanko, 74, a native of Edenborn, Pennsylvania,and Peninsula resident since 1958, died Sunday, July 17, 1994.Mr. Yanko was a Korean War veteran and retired from the U.S. Army in 1966 with 21 years service. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 1984.Survivors include wife Ursula R. Yanko; two daughters, Nance C. Henderson and Ramona D. Hirlinger, both of Newport News; one son, Ralph W. Yanko, of Lacey, Washington; four sisters, three brothers, and two grandchildren.Visitation is Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Peninsula Memorial Park. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
