- Anthony "Joe" Garfield, 93 of Endwell, passed away peacefully, Monday April 24, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Angeline Garfield; his brother, Matthew Garfield; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Garfield; his brother-in-law, Charles Maloney. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Arlene Garfield; 2 children, Gary Garfield (Lauri Maczko) of New Hampshire, James (Heather) Garfield of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Jared Garfield, and Nicole Garfield; step-grandchildren, Jordan Fahr, and Madison Fahr; 2 sisters, Sue Maloney of Waverly, NY, Ann Marie (Ken) Burke, Albuquerque, New Mexico; his sister-in-law, Katheryn Garfield of Endwell, NY; a very special cousin, David (Tricia) Alamo, who offered continous support and love; also several nieces, one nephew, several cousins and loyal neighbors. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell, a retired IBM employee and a member of its Quarter Century Club, a veteran of the US Army, serving during WW II, a member of the American Legion, Post 1700, Endicott, the founder of the Maine-Endwell Booster Club and a proud member of the Maine-Endwell Athletic Hall of Fame. He was an avid New York Yankee fan and enjoyed fishing, golfing, Bocci, gardening, cooking and baking bread for his friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 am at the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St. Endwell. Burial will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott on Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm.
