- Orvis S. "Skip" Kustanbauter, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011, at The Masonic Village, at Elizabethtown, at the age of 84.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Helen Confer Kustanbauter. He was born September 13, 1926, the son of the late Edgar G., and Emaline J. Kustanbauter, in Bellefonte. Skip served in the U.S. Navy, from 1944 to 1946. He is a graduate from Penn State and retired from AMP, Inc., in 1986.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Harrisburg, taught Sunday School, served as lay leader and was a member of the choir. Following retirement, he sang with The Sentimentalists. He was a lifetime member of William S. Snyder Lodge #756, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Forest #43, Yellow Breeches Anglers & Conservation Assn., Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers, Pa. Fish and Game Commission, a member of the Nittany Lion Club, the American Legion and VFW and was a Lend-A-Hand volunteer, traveling to N.C. and Ia., for flood cleanup.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Anita Littlewolf of Sedalia, Co., and Susan Henderson of New Cumberland; two grandchildren, Matthew and Katelyn Schreffler of Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Sara Hoy of Howard, Pa., and Nancy Krape of Zion, Pa.; He is preceded in death by four siblings; Charles, Edgar, Jr., and Thomas Kustanbauter and Margaret Jamison.
Visitation will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church, 4700 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, Pa., 17109, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial with Military Honors, will be at 2:00 p.m., at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Memorial Contributions may be made to his church or to the Masonic Village Hospice, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, Pa. 17022.
Arrangements are by the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Linglestown.
