- Herbert L. Wyland
HOWARD – Herbert L (Hoddy) Wyland, 74, a semi-invalid the past nine years, died at 8:30 a.m. today in the Lock Haven Hospital.
He was a native of Milesburg, son of the Benjamin Wylands, and had worked until his retirement in 1955 as a driver for the White Rock Quarries at Pleasant Gap.
In 1940, Mr. Wyland married the former Julia Daughenbaugh, who for many years was employed as a woman crossing watchman for the Pennsylvania Railroad, at Mill Hall.
He was active in the community as a member of the Howard Methodist Church, its Men’s Bible Class, Howard Fire Company; and belonged to the Volunteer Fireman’s Association of Centre County and Pennsylvania, also the Howard Rifle Club.
His wife survives, with a brother, Lester I., of Howard; and two sisters, Mrs. William Bryant, this place, and Mrs. Marian Corman, Williamsport.
Funeral Notice:
WYLAND – Service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Neff’s Funeral Home, Howard, for Herbert L. Wyland, 74, of Howard, who died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1964, at 8:30 a.m. in the Lock Haven Hospital. The Rev. William B. Starr will officiate. Interment, Schenck’s Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening.
