- Sonia J. Alderdice, 36, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Lutheran Hospital. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she was the only child of Dr. Samuel Nelson Holter and Else Brunhilde Holter. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Christopher Robert of Fort Wayne; son, Samuel Robert and daughter, Julia Marie, both at home; her mother, Else Brunhilde Holter of Pittsburgh, PA and several uncles. She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents. A devoted and loving mother, ''She considered being Samuel and Julia's Mother her most notable achievement, however, her short life was marked by many achievements. She was honorably discharged from the US Army, graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in German and the University of Pittsburgh with a M.A. in Teaching, and taught high school German and Algebra in Annapolis, MD. Sonia was an active participant in her children's school activities, reading to her children, her crafts and scrap booking. Services 10:30am Thursday with calling one hour prior at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne Street. Calling also 2 to 5 & 7 to 9pm Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials to American Cancer Society.
