- Sandra G. Gates, 77, of Howard passed away on Monday, April 16,2018 at her home.
She was born on October 7, 1940 in Blanchard, a daughter of the late William and Sarah DeHaas Bechdel. She was married for 51 years to Joseph Gates. He preceded her on April 22, 2010.
Sandra was the owner of Gates Beauty Salon for 30 years retiring in 2002. She enjoyed reading, puzzle boards and was a good cook, but she received her greatest pleasure spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Billie Jo Weaver of Blanchard, and her son, Timothy L. Gates of Westerville, Ohio. Also surviving are 3 brothers, Roger Wayne Bechdel,and Dennis Bechdel both of Blanchard and Hayes Bechdel of Port Orange, Florida, and a sister, Carol Etters of Howard. She was preceded by a sister, Debra Boyce. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Toni Moyer, John Dreese, and Brandi Weaver Gates, and 5 great-grandchildren.
