- Leanore Ruth Graffius, 100 of Bellefonte, formerly of Howard, passed away Wednesday, June 20, at the Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte, She was born on March 9, 1918 in Mt. Eagle Centre Co., the daughter of the late William and Ethel P. Leathers Gates.
On October 27, 1937 she married Frederick Graffius. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2006.
She was a homemaker. Ruth was a very active member of the Howard United Methodist Church and also active in her community. She lived by her faith.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Patricia (George) Yearick of Troy, Pa., Linda (Ted) Bair of Madisonburg, Pa., and Jaqueline (Charles) Pangle of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters, Lois Ball of York and Patricia Houpt of Greenville; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff and care their mother received while at the Centre Crest Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 1, at 2 p.m. at the Howard United Methodist Church, Main Street, Howard with the Pastor Craig Rose and Pastor Kathleen Danley officiating.
Friends and family will be received one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centre Crest Auxillary, 502 E. Howard St. Bellefonte or to Grane Hospice, 106 Zee Plaza N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648.
