— NORTHUMBERLAND — David C. Herlinger Sr., 84, a lifelong resident of 333 Duke St., passed on to his just rewards on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009.
David was born on March 7, 1925, a son of the late Raymond Herlinger and Margaret Bastian. He lived most of his adolescent life with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sarvis, of Northumberland.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and served in France during World War II. After his discharge from the military, he earned his private pilot's license and flew small planes.
David was employed by AMP Inc. in Selinsgrove, from where he retired after 23 years of service.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8298 and American Legion Post 44.
He is survived by two sons, David C. Herlinger Jr. and James J. Herlinger; five grandchildren, Benjamin Herlinger, Sara (Herlinger) Wenrich, Joshua Herlinger, James Herlinger and Meghan (Herlinger) Huebrin; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alexander and Dorian.
A graveside committal services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, with the Rev. Dietmar Plajer, of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Selinsgrove, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 44, Northumberland, along with an Air Force Honor Guard.
