- Joseph A. (Joe) Pletcher Sr. June 21, 1925 July 8, 2014 Joseph A. "Joe" Pletcher, Sr.,89, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully at Centre Crest Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Born on June 21, 1925, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Calvin and Ruth Devinney Pletcher. On July 3, 1948, in Bellefonte, he married Lillian B. Novosel who passed away on January 14, 2003. Joe attended the Howard High School. He was enlisted in the US Army during WWII. For his service, he received the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Service Star for campaign "Rhineland", Bronze Star for campaign "Central Europe", and the EAME Campaign Ribbon. He was an Inspector at Cerro Brass in Bellefonte, retiring in 1982, after 45 years of service. Joe was a member of the Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Undine Fire Co., Bellefonte American Legion Post 33, and Bellefonte VFW Post 5644. He enjoyed going the Bellefonte Senior Center, bowling, and family gatherings. He was an excellent baker, and known for his peanut butter fudge. He was always giving out tootsie rolls to both adults and children. Joe never passed up the opportunity to tell a joke or story. He will be truly missed by everyone that knew him. Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Allen Pletcher, Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Bellefonte; two grandchildren, Matthew A. Pletcher and Michael A. Pletcher, both of Bellefonte; and one great grandson, Bryce. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by three brothers, James, John "Mac" and Edward; and three sisters, Ann Pletcher, Janet Daughenbaugh and Elizabeth Pletcher. Visitation will be on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary at 5:45 p.m. and a Wake service at 7:45 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St., Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass with be on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. at the Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Bellefonte. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bellefonte Senior Center, 203 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St., Snow Shoe.
