- William A. Confer May 27, 1928 June 15, 2014 William A. Confer, 86, of Boalsburg, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall. Born May 28, 1928, in Orviston, he was the son of the late Clyde V. Confer and Mildred (Woodring) Confer. He was married to the former S. Jane Kellerman, his wife of 66 years, who survives at home. He was a 1947 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He had worked for A & P as a meat cutter, retiring after 33 years of service. Bill attended Our Lady of Victory Church. He was a P.E.R. of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks #1094, a lifetime member of the Logan Fire Company, member of the Red Buck Hunting Camp in Snow Shoe, and a 30 year member of the Boalsburg Neighborhood Cut-Throat Pinochle Club. Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mary Kathleen Betoni and her husband, Carmen and Melissa A. Stark and her husband, William C.; two granddaughters, Emily Stark-Anderson and Katelyn Stark; and one step-grandson, Carmen J. Betoni, III. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan E. Confer; and five sisters, Trenelva M. Peters, Eleanor Smith, Louise Leathers, Caroline Brungard and Marjorie Joy; and two brothers, Clarence "Pete" Confer and Elwood C. "Woody" Confer, Jr. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA, with the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home, with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Eaton. Bill was Dr. Eaton's very first patient when he came to the State College area, and they always referred to each other as "buddy".
