- Roger Glenn LeValley Sr., 79, of Shickshinny Valley Road died Sunday morning, June 21, 2015, at home after a lengthy illness.
Born May 3, 1936 in Fairmount Township, he was a son of the late Rittner G. LeValley and Letha Monroe LeValley Thomas.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Aug. 26, 1953 to Aug. 25, 1957. He was then employed for 35 years at the former Luzerne Outerwear plant in Shickshinny and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years, retiring due to ill health. He loved crossword puzzles and was an avid read, especially of history books. He was loved by his family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Arletta Ciafaroni.
Surviving are his wife, the former Shirley Gensel, whom he married December 14, 1957; two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Bach and husband, James, Shickshinny; and Deborah Ann Kelley, Berwick; two sons, Roger G. LeValley Jr. and wife, Donna, Shickshinny; and Kevin LeValley and wife, Diane, Berwick; 10 grandchildren, Adam Bach, Ashley Holmes, Elizabeth Rappa, Tyson Kelley, Jacob Kelley, Joshua Kelley, Jennifer Stout, Noel LeValley, Nicholas LeValley and Roger G. LeValley III; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert LeValley, Berwick; and two sisters, Virginia Hutnik, Maryland; and Carol Bonham, Ricketts Glen.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. James McGee officiating.
