    • LeRoy Jared 'Pete' Evey June 30, 1915 - January 8, 2005 LeRoy Jared "Pete" Evey, 89, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born June 30, 1915, in Pleasant Gap, he was a son of the late Jared Uriah and Minnie Twitmeyer Evey. On May 31, 1941, at the Howard United Church of Christ, he married Mary Elizabeth Moore, who survives at home. He was a graduate of State College High School. He was the former co-owner of Meadow Pride Dairy from 1946 until the late 1970s. He was a real estate agent for Corman Association and Century 21 Realtors for many years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bellefonte. LeRoy was a past president of the Bellefonte Rotary Club, the State College Chamber of Commerce and the Nittany Country Club. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Bellefonte and the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge Number 261 of Bellefonte. LeRoy was an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling and was very involved in Republican politics. He was also an avid Penn State football fan. He is survived by five daughters, Sonna McDevitt and her husband, Tim, Elaine Ebeling and her husband, Ernest, Bonnie Leathers and her husband, Denny, Eleanor Hutsky and her husband, Gene, all of Bellefonte, Cynthia Nicosia and her husband, Joseph, of State College; a son, Jared L. and his wife, Kathy E., of Bellefonte; four sisters, Thelma Beck, of Lower Burrell, Blanche Dickson, of State College, Margaret Stover, of North Carolina and Betty Ann Leamer, of Boalsburg; two brothers, William, of Reston, Md., and Gaylord, of Vineland, N.J.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Bud; and two sisters, Lilae and Mary. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn St., Bellefonte. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Pastor Anne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Schecks Cemetery, Howard Township. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn St., Bellefonte, PA 16823.
