- Alan R. Vanemon, 72, of Bellefonte, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at his home.
He was born in Williamsport on Oct. 9, 1936, a son of the late Lester and Oma Peters Vanemon.
He married the former Virginia M. Confer June 2, 1962. She survives at home.
Alan was a 1955 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He was employed with International Paper of Lock Haven for 39 years, retiring in 1998.
He was of Protestant faith.
Alan served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959.
He was involved in the Bellefonte Lanes Bowling Leagues and he enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy L. Vanemon Wellar and husband Kevin of Bellefonte; a sister, Bonnie Bowes of Woolrich; a brother, Fred Vanemon of Avis; and two grandchildren, Kyle B. and Kelsey L. Wellar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Glenn, and a brother, Dr. James Vanemon.
Services will be Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 135 W. Main St., Howard, with Rev. Warren G. Somers officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Schencks Cemetery, Howard.
