    • From manuscript written by Hannah Hall Barnhart Dec. 1, 1901 in her 75th yr.

"We never knew much about our mothers people. Her mother came to this country from Germany when she was a young girl with her mother. Sometime afterwards, the mother had occasion to return to her own country and her daughter was left with friends until she came back. After a long time a brother came to see her and brought word that the vessel their mother had sailed on was lost and she drowned. The brother was dressed in officers uniform and soon left to join the army. Sometime afterwards two large chests were received but the brother never came back, so Sarah Engle (or Ingle) was alone in a strange country. She married Frederick Weaver, also a German, a miller by trade. They had five children: John, Daniel and George, Polly and Sarah.
Grandfather Weaver was drowned and after the children were able to take care of themselves, grandmother married a Mr. Way."
