Sara Y. Confer August 16, 1936 - July 31, 2011 Sara Y. Confer, of Bellefonte and formerly of Mill Hall, died July 31, 2011, at the Mt. Nittany Medical Center. She was born Aug. 16, 1936 in Howard, daughter of the late Christie & Thelma Davey Heverly. She was married to Joseph L. Confer who precedeceased her Oct. 30, 2010. A homemaker, Sara had previously worked at Penn State University for 14 years. She had also held various secretarial positions while living in Virginia. Sara was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Staunton, Va. where she served on numerous committees. She enjoyed arranging flowers, bow making and working outdoors. She enjoyed helping others. She is survived by two sons, Rodney & Christie (Kim) Confer, both of Kansas; step mother, Anna Heverly, of Clarence; and four sisters, Jane (John) Petuck, of Bellefonte, Bonnie (Dale) Peters, of Blanchard, Rhonda (Ken) Neff, of Julian, and Melody (Doug) Smitchko, of Clarence. A Memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church, 224 Taylor St., Staunton, VA 24401.
