- Blanche E. Ickes April 2, 1920 - April 12, 2011 Blanche E. Ickes, 91 of Medina, Ohio, formerly of Lemont, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Emeritus at Medina. She was born April 2, 1920, in Marion Twp. The daughter of the late Michael E. Confer and Eva L. Schenck Confer. Blanche attended the Furnace School and Howard High School. On Oct. 28, 1940 she married Jasper H. Holt, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1963. On Sept. 20, 1968 she married Harold H. Ickes, who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1981. Blanche was a homemaker for most of her life and devoted herself to the efficiency and upkeep of her home. She also worked briefly for Halls, Erie Ceramics, and in private service. Blanche is survived by two daughters, Judith R. Bush and her husband, Alvin, of Lafayette Twp., Ohio, and Jennifer "Kay" Alter and her husband, Thomas, of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren, Marla Wojtala and her husband, Paul, of North Royalton, Ohio, Heather Bush, of Lafayette Twp., Ohio, Alicia Palonis and her husband, Joseph, of Geneva, Ill., and Thomas Alter and his wife, Tressa, of Manassas, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Wojtala and Alexander Wojtala, of North Royalton, Ohio, Kayla Palonis and Paige Palonis, of Geneva, Ill., and Tegan Alter, of Manassas, Va.; and one sister, Ruth G. Bowes, of Mill Hall. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert W. and Gordon E. Confer; three sisters, Nancy Leah Glossner, Alice L. Day and Rosetta J. Lomison. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, with the Rev. Craig Rose, officiating. Burial will be in the Jacksonville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to The Howard United Methodist Church, PO Box 257, 144 West Main Street, Howard, PA 16841. Arrangements by Kader-Neff Funeral Home.
