Centre Hall, Pennsylvania - William R. "Bill" Sharer, 73, of Centre Hall, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on October 30, 1948, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Marion and Betty (Glasgow) Sharer. On October 7, 1972, at the St. Peters United Church of Christ in Pine Hall, he married the love of his life, Carolyn M. Dreibelbis, who survives at home.
Bill graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1966. In March of 1969, he was drafted with the United States Army during the Vietnam War efforts. During his enlistment he earned the rank of Specialist, qualified expert in rifle, and was awarded the National Defense Medal. He was honorably discharged in March of 1971. For the last 10 years or more, he has been employed with Jr's Quality Tile & Hardwood as a sales team associate.
Bill was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills. He enjoyed mowing grass on his Kubota tractor, yardwork, and tinkering. He took a lot of pride in his yard. He loved attending and tenting at the Centre County Grange Fair each year, mainly for the socialization aspect. He was an outgoing man that loved to be around people, which is why he continued working sales even after retirement age. Although he could be stubborn, he was a loving and mild-mannered individual. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Above all else in life, time spent with his family was what he cherished the most.
Along with his wife, Carolyn, Bill is survived by his two children, Danan W. Sharer and his wife, Jody, of Bellefonte and Latisha M. Stefanko of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Jordan Jones of Haymarket, VA, Garret Sharer, Hadley Stefanko, and Maura Sharer; Peyton Stitzer of Centre Hall, whom he loved and considered to be his granddaughter; one brother, Stephen Sharer and his wife, Judy, of Youngsville; three sisters, Linda Foust and her husband, Daniel, of Weir, TX, Susan Glasgow of Apex, NC, and Lisa Leake and her husband, Don, of Bridgeville; his mother in-law, Barbara Dreibelbis of Centre Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
