- Rita M. (Flannery) Amick
Rita Madeline (Flannery) Amick, 89, of Harrisburg, formerly of Palmyra, passed away with family by her side on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Spring Creek Nursing Home, Harrisburg. She was born Saturday, April 28, 1923 in Griswoldville, MA to the late James S. and Jeanette (Banville) Flannery. She was predeceased earlier this month by her loving husband of 67 years, Harold H. Amick, Jr.
She was a faithful member of Faith UCC, New Cumberland, for 33 years, and was a member of Trinity UCC in Palmyra, where she participated in the Jump for Joy program. She actively participated in the Women’s Guild in both churches. Rita loved the outdoors; she enjoyed tending to her flowers and feeding the birds. She was an avid collector of pig memorabilia and magnets. She was a great cook, her specialties included swiss steak, scalloped potatoes, and graham cracker pie. Rita and her husband Harold traveled the US and Canada in their RV. Rita was compassionate to animals and kids, and was young at heart. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She survived by a daughter, Lisa K. Mills; a son, Harold R. Amick and wife Lillian M.; 3 grandchildren, Lewis C.J. Mills, Jr., Lee T. Mills, Catherine A. Amick; 2 great grandchildren, Andrew D. and Emily E. Amick. She was predeceased by a grandson, James A. Amick; 3 siblings, Helen J. Vial, James T. Flannery, and Mary L. Andrews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23rd at Noon at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, with The Rev. Julia A. Beall officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 11:00 AM until time of the service. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Dr., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
