- Carolyn Pletcher Hollar October 6, 1928 February 23, 2017 Carolyn Pletcher Hollar, 88, of Howard, crossed over unto Heaven on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg. Born on October 6, 1928, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Blair and Lorilla Yearick Pletcher. On July 3, 1947, in Howard, she married Clendon E. Hollar, who passed away on September 24, 1991. Carolyn was a 1946 graduate of Howard High School. She was a life-long member of the Howard Christian Church. She was employed at the First National Bank of Howard where she performed many duties, but mainly she was a computer operator. She retired after 15 years of service. Carolyn was a faithful servant of the church with many roles including serving dinners and helping with a variety of children's activities. She was very dependable. If she said she would do it, it would be done. She was an active member of the Howard Civic Club, WTCU, an elected member of the Howard Borough Council, served on the election board for many years, was a member of the Howard Grange, and was the Vice President of the Schenck Family Reunion. Carolyn loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as the mother and grandmother of all children. No matter what time of day or the day of the week, a child could stop to say "Hi" and Carolyn always had homemade cookies to offer. She was an excellent cook and a fantastic pie baker. She enjoyed canning, being at the family tent at Grange Fair, and traveling. She would make the best Sunday dinners, every Sunday and you didn't need to be family to be invited to eat. Her home was open to all. Through all this, her first and foremost love was the love she had for her Lord, Jesus Christ. His greatest commandment is to love one another, and Carolyn did just that. Carolyn is survived by her five daughters; Patricia DeLotto and her husband, Daniel, of Bellefonte, Kathleen Rogers and her husband, Keith, of Nittany, Sandra Hunt and her husband, Jeffrey, of Watsontown, Beth Dabiero and her husband, Ernest, of State College, and Barbara Shugarts and her husband, Doug, of Lewistown. Also, surviving Carolyn is her brother, Herbert Pletcher of Taneytown, MD, 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by two infant sons. Visitation with family will be on Sunday, February 26, 2017, from 6-8pm at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home in Howard. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11am at the Howard Christian Church, 367 Walnut St. Howard, PA with Pastor Wes McElravy officiating. Burial will follow at Schenck's Cemetery, Howard Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Howard Christian Church, PO Box 465, Howard, PA 16841.
