- Paul A. Coder, 76, of Snydertown died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Lock Haven Hospital, where he had been a patient since Sept. 14. Born Aug. 12, 1925, in Howard Township, he was a son of the late Albert B. and Nancy A. Schenck Coder. On June 3, 1944, in Winchester, Va., he married Anna Elizabeth Amelia Rockey, who died May 22, 2000.He attended Hublersburg High School. He entered the Army on July 3, 1944, serving as a private first class and performing as a rifleman in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Battle Star and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon. He helped his father farm and later, with his wife, operated a dairy farm for more than 20 years. He was also employed at the Dye Works and Drake Chemical in Lock Haven and Neese Chemical in State College. In February 1997, he retired from the Pennsylvania Game Commission after 46 years of service as deputy game protector and hunter and trapper education instructor.
He was a member of Lock Haven Assembly of God Church, the National Rifle Association and the Fraternal Order of Police, Bald Eagle Lodge 51. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball. He is survived by two daughters, Connie A. Brininger of Nittany and Judy J. Coder of Mill Hall; two sons, Paul A. Jr. of Milesburg and Jay A. of Snydertown; five sisters, May L. Pletcher of Howard, Rebecca J. Metz of Conshohocken, Rachael E. Yarnell of Pleasant Gap, Nancy Jeannette Klein of Beloit, Wis., and Mary E. Pallo of Lewistown; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A sister preceded him in death. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lock Haven Assembly of God, 320 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, with the Rev. Wayne H. Hixon officiating. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Lock Haven Assembly of God, in care of the Rev. Wayne H. Hixon, 127 Irwin St., Lock Haven, PA 17745; or to the American Heart Association.
