- Paul W. `Brownie' Pletcher Sr. April 16, 1922 -- June 15, 2004 Paul W. "Brownie" Pletcher Sr., 82, of Blanchard, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Geisinger Medical Center. Born April 16, 1922, in Blanchard, he was the son of the late Hayes Allen Pletcher and Maude Dietz Pletcher. On Aug. 27, 1943, he married the late Dorothy M. Smith, who passed away in February 2002. The couple had three daughters and two sons.
Paul W. PLETCHER, son of Hayes PLETCHER of Blanchard, was inducted into the Army in October, 1943. He received this training at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, then enjoyed a seven day furlough at home before going overseas in March, 1944. He arrived in Africa and two weeks later moved into Italy where he was in action until he helped to make the invasion of Southern France and is believed to be in that locality at present. Prior to entering the service Pvt. PLETCHER was employed by the General Refractories at Orviston.
