- James Francis Kane Jr., 88, of Twin Spruce Farm, Zion, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at the Fairways at Brookline, State College. He was the son of James Francis Kane Sr. and Bridget Boyle Kane. His wife, Anna Louise (Corman) Kane, preceded him in death June 2, 1998. They were married in Bellefonte on Oct. 14, 1940. He was a 1936 graduate of Walker Township High School and attended Temple University. He was employed with the U.S. Post Office in Bellefonte and retired as Superintendent of Mails. He was also employed with PennTran, Bellefonte. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte. He was a member of the Pleasant Gap Fire Company where he served as longtime secretary, the Central District Fire Association, and the Walker Township Water Company. He enjoyed mowing the grass on his farm. James received a citation from the state of Pennsylvania for voting in every state and federal election for over 50 years. Surviving are daughters, Carole Ann Klinger (Lloyd), of Northfield, Vt., Sharyn Kay Leach (Roland,) of Howard, and Amy Louise Newton (Kurt), of Trinidad, Colo.; sons, Lynn Francis Kane (Kennanne) and James Philip Kane (Patricia), of Hershey; a sister, Margaret K. Kane, of Brookline, State College; seven grandchildren, April Kane, David Kane, Annette Shine, Bradley Kane, Robert Kane, Cheryl Lease and Peter Klinger; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Kane. A Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellefonte, with Father Neil R. Dadey officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Walker Township.
