- Howard H. (Pud) Confer, 64, Howard borough councilman and brother of Mrs. Jesse Bamat of Pine Glen, died yesterday at the Lock Haven Hospital. He reportedly suffered a heart attack while teaching Sunday school at the Howard United Methodist Church.
He was the operator of Confer's Fuel Service in Howard and a founder of Confer's Dairy.
He was born in Liberty Township, a son of Andrewa [sic-Andrew] and Etta (Miller) Confer. He was married to the former Nancy Stauffer who survives with these children: Gary and Mrs. Foster Sayers, Howard; Andrew, Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Keith Hammond, Sunbury; Cheryl, Searcy, Ark., and Everett, at home.
In addition to Mrs. Bamat, these sisters and brothers survive: Floyd A., Mrs. Pauline Thompson and Barbara Baughman, Howard R.D. 1; Margaret Groenndall, Erie; Ruth Robinson, Howard, R.D. 2 Three granddaughters also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Neff Funeral Home, Howard. The Rev. Lawrence Foct will officiate with interment in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening.
