- Laird Schenck, 91 of Howard, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008 at his home. Laird was born on August 20, 1916 in Howard Twp., to the late Sarah A Robb. Laird married Martha Mapes on June 28, 1941. She passed away on June 25, 1998.
Laird was a graduate of Howard High School in 1934. He was retired from being a self-employed dairy farmer.
He was a member of the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church of Howard. He was also a member of the Howard Grange, past president of the Schenck''s Cemetery Association, Schenck and Pletcher Hunting Camp, Bald Eagle School Director for 12 years. He will be sadly missed by many.
He is survived by 4 daughters; Susan & husband Delbert Dingle of Mont ALto, Pa., Shirley Herbert of West River, Md., Sandra and husband Robert Conner of Lewistown, Pa., Sara Crawford of Lancaster, Pa. 3 Sons; Richard and wife Dorothy Schenck of Mill Hall, Pa., Daniel Schenck of Mill Hall, Gary and wife Debra Schenck of Millerton, Pa. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Esther Homler and Catherine Richardson and also by 2 brothers; Paul Schenck and David Schenck.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, Pa. with the Pastor Terry N. Daugherty officiating. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery, Howard Twp., Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.
