    • Daniel S. Pletcher, of Flemington, was another gentleman who was hastily summoned from this world by death. Mr. Plecther, in 1894, experiences a slight stroke of paralysis, since which time he has not been in sound health, although he was able to perform the light work around his home. Saturday evening about 6 o’clock he went to the stable for kinkling wood. Some time later Mrs. Pletcher went to the stable and found her husband lying dead. He was removed to the house, and the physician who was summoned, pronounced the cause of death as heart failure. Mr. Pletcher was born near Howard on July 18, 1836. His early childhood was spent in that place. In 1862 he became interested in the woolen factory at Mill hall and afterwards secured an interest in the woolen factory at Spring creek, Centre county. He remained in that business until the close of the war, when he taught school for several years near Howard. Afterwards he moved to his father’s farm near Howard, and in 1878 removed to his father-in-law’s farm near Flemington. In 1890 he took possession of the property he lately occupied in Flemington. During his life he held a number of township offices. He was a member of the Menonite church, his father having been a minister in that church. In his home he was a husband and father in the strict sense of the word, and in the community he by his manly conduct was congenial ways won the respect of all who came in contact with him. He is survived by his wife and the following named children: Prof. Benjamin F., one of the faculty at the Normal; Miss Nancy F, at home, and George W. of Lamar. Also by the following named brother and sisters: Joseph, of Blanchard; Mrs. Anna Peters and Miss Sarah Pletcher, of Howard, and Mrs. Leah Wetzler of Milesburg. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon. Services at the house at 1:30 o’clock by Rev. J. K. Knisely. Interment at Highland cemetery.
