- Well Known Resident of Reade Township, Cambria Co., Died Suddenly
Last Saturday morning at 8 o'clock Aaron Youngkin one of the best known farmers in this section died at his home two miles south east of this place from heart trouble. He had been troubled with the disease for about three years. Saturday morning he appeared to be in his usual health and had assisted in doing the usual work about the farm. At about eight o'clock he went to the house and after bringing in a bucket of water, proceeded to fill a tumbler of water prior to taking some medicine, when he sank into a chair and expired almost instantly. Mr. Youngkin was born at Frankstown, Blair Co., Pa., March 5th, 1838 and was aged 73 years, 6 months and 25 days. He came to Cambria county with his parents when a small child and had lived in the vicinity where he died all his life. For years he followed lumbering and farming, and had one of the best farms in Cambria county; clearing the ground when it stood heavy with timber. He was respected by neighbors and friends. This was amply attested to by the large number who paid their respects to his memory at the funeral Sunday. Mr. Youngkin was twice married, his second wife passing away six years ago. He leaves the following children: David, of Mountaindale; Mrs. Susan Ames of Juniata; Isaac, at home; John of Lyleville; Mrs. Minnie Jackson, of Glasgow, and Abraham, of Rosebud. Also two brothers, Andrew, of Flinton, and Joseph of Sully, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Susan Fitzgibbons, of Flinton. Sunday afternoon at 1:30 services were held at the home of Rev. W.L. Armstrong, pastor of the Coalport M.E. church, after which interment was made in the Beaver Valley cemetery. Undertakers Riddle & Gordon were in charge of the remains.
