- 10/19/1944 - Mrs. Maude WELSH PLETCHER, 75, a native of Mill Hall, died at her Chevy Chase home in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 1, after a long illness. d/o Hepburn WELSH and Amanda BEST WELSH was born in Mill Hall in 1868. She is survived by her husband, Sergius S. PLETCHER, a native of Howard, PA, a dau. Mrs. Dwight Goldwin HOWERTH and granddaughter Shirley Claire HOWERTH all of Washington, two sisters. Mrs. PLETCHER spent her girlhood on a large farm bordering Mill Hall and went to Washington when she married Mr. PLETCHER in 1899. He preceded her there in 1895 at which time he entered the service of the U.S. Treasury Department, spending 42 years in government service. For years the PLETCHERS spent there summers in Centre County where the family has many friends. She was member of the Gunton-Temple Memorial Presybterian church in Washington. Her nephew, the Rev. Howard A. ROBB, pastor of Emanuels Evangelical and Reformed church of Export, PA., delivered the funeral sermon. Burial in Rock Creek emetery in Washington, D.C.
