- William C. Gehret, 53 of Laurelwood Road, Pottstown, formerly of Ridley Township, died Thursday in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, North, after an illness of two weeks. Born in Snow Shoe, Mr. Gehret moved to Folsom with his parents when he was four years old, where he lived until moving to Pottstown 10 years ago. He was a graduate of Ridley Park High School and a veteran of World War II. He was employed 18 years as a plant accountant with Scott Paper Co. and for 10 years was transportation manager for Mrs. Smith Pies Co. until last May when he became assistant transportation manager for Mrs’s Paul’s Kitchens of Philadelphia. Before his employment with Scott’s he was a teller at the former Interboro Bank in Norwood. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Pottstown, where he was a deacon, a former chairman of its trustee board and a former Sunday School teacher. He was a past president of the Toastmaster’s Association of Pottstown, a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Gideon International Bible Association, a member and past chairman of the Owen J. Roberts Citizens Committee of Chester County and a member of the Independent Order of Foresters of Detroit, Mich. He is survived by his widow, the former Ruth Garling; tow daughters, Myra and Nancy Gehret, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Lulu Gehret of Howard and a brother, Edwin of Ridley Township. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, King and Charlotte Sts., Pottstown. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Chester County. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Wilson Funeral Home, 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown.
