  	Mrs. Josephine P. Carrigan, 67, wife of Lester B. Carrigan, 13 E. High St., Elizabethtown, died in the Lancaster General Hospital at 10:35 a.m. Friday after an illness of 18 months. Born in Raleigh, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Stella Smith Murray. She resided in Elizabethtown for 16 years after moving there from Lancaster. Before her illness she was manager of the Gladell Shop, Elizabethtown. She was a former employe of the Adler Store in Lancaster. She attended Mt. Calvary Church and was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Elizabethtown. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline, wife of C. Glenn Hirlinger, Lancaster; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Lessie, wife of Frank Davis, Richmond, Va.; Ruby, wife of O.B. Cray, Tampa, Fla.; Pauline, wife of Raymond Miller, Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Willa Maness, Charlotte, NC.

  [S688] Email - Merle Schnee, Glenn & Jackie Hirlinger; 4 April 2002. As a long time member (but not the longest) of the Malta Band of Lancaster, I knew both Glenn and Jackie Hirlinger. Glenn played the bass drum and was quite flamboyant in his technique and always a joy to watch. Jackie played the clarinet and saxophone. We may have archived pictures which I could scan and send as attachments in future communications. We have rehearsal tomorrow evening and if I don't have a "senior moment" I will try to see if I can find a picture or two. Also, there may be others in the band who knew Glenn and Jackie better than I and I will say something to them. I do know that Jacqueline died on December 13, 1986. She was 61. She and Glenn are buried in the Conestoga Reformed Cemetary in Mt. Joy. Glenn died in 1982. Jackie was the daughter of the late Lester B and Josephine Murphy Carrigan. She was a resident of the Hempfield area for most of her life and was employed at Bible Visual, Akron, PA, for more than 25 years. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Rohrerstown. she and Glenn had a daughter, Kathy L. wife of Ward L Baxter. They also had a son, Michael and three grandchildren.
