- Mary Almeda Holter (1883-1936): She was the youngest daughter and was really one of the boys. She was with us in everything we did around the house. Most of the time she got the dishes until Phip and I got old enough to do them. Then Phip washed them and I dried them. It took an hour to do them. A dishwasher would have helped but nobody had any then. She was good at baseball and football. Those are the only games we played except for tag. After we got old enough to go on dates she would always ask us if we had enough money. She went ice-skating with us. We lived across from the schoolhouse and would grab a bowl of mush and milk and hurry to the ice. We came home around 8 o'clock. She married a German, Jake Kundts from Columbus, Ohio and had one son. She wanted to name hie after so many people that she just called him howard after every person in town. Howard was a very likeable person and did well with the Sun Oil Company. He has retired and is now living in Florida not far from David.
