    • Philip (Phip) Crider Holter (1889-1977): Philip was interested in baseball and was probably the best baseball player in howard. He would sit up half the night to listen to the Phillies play in the West. He could play any position but catch and had several chances to go to college playing baseball but couldn't stay away from home. He was interested in many local affairs especially politics. Politicians always looked him up when they came to Howard. He didn't like ice hockey like Dave and I did. He couldn't skate fast enough. He promoted many affairs around town and they were most successful. He married Edith Weber and later married Lillian Pletcher after his first wife's demise. In the First World War he played baritone in a military band, which went to Germany. When the war stopped he became company cook as a volunteer.
