  	HOWARD – Oscar M. (Pete) Pletcher, 75, a life-long farmer of Howard R.D. 1, died yesterday at 6:05 p.m. at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. Mr. Pletcher, whose farm was one of those in the Sayers Dam pool area evacuated in the course of the present building of the dam, had been seriously ill for the past five months. He made his home with two sisters, Miss Irene M. Pletcher and Mrs. Josephine M. Holter, at their new residence in Howard R.D. 1, after they moved from the farm. Born Dec. 17, 1892, in Howard Twp., he was a son of J. Linn and Laura Holter Pletcher. For many years he had been a trustee of Schenck’s Cemetery Association. He hunted with the Pletcher hunting camp, and was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church. Two other sisters and a brother surviving are Mrs. Sally A. Miller, Blanchard; Michael H. Pletcher, and Mrs. Rosella Rudisill, both of Bausman, Pa. PLETCHER – Services will be at the Neff Funeral Home, Howard, on Monday at 2 p.m. for Oscar M. (Pete) Pletcher, 75, of Howard R.D. 1, who died Friday, October 4, 1968 at 6:05 p.m. at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. The Rev. LeRoy K. Sholes and the Rev. William B. Starr will officiate. Interment, Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening. Neff Funeral Home, Howard.

  Pete was the last one to farm the Pletcher farm before it was taken over by the Army Corps of Engineers. He was the last of those evicted by the Sayers Dam project to leave his home. He received his eviction notice 12 Dec 1967 (5 days before his 75th birthday) and had to be out by 2 Jan 1968. Anything remaining on the property would then become the property of the US government. The electricity and telephone were turned off. The hold up was that his new home was not completed; that contractor was building 7 different homes for those losing theirs to the project. In addition to losing his farm, Pete was also on the board of trustees for Schenck Cemetery, which was also being relocated. His nephew, his nephew's in-laws, and his sister were also losing their farms/homes to the project. Prior to relocation Pete had never lived anywhere other than the Pletcher farm where he had been born.
