  Andreas Eschenbach was a shoemaker from Naumberg, Germany, who became a Moravian minister. He was chosen by Zinzendorf to come to America in 1740 as a German-speaking preacher who could aid the missionary efforts of the newly organized Moravian community in Bethlehem PA, and he arrived in September of that year on the Friendship. For a few years he had great success. Eventually however he had serious disagreements with some members of the church leadership, and he retired to a farm in Northampton Co. PA, where he died in 1763. He married twice, first to Catharina Mintz, daughter of Benedict Mintz of Falkner's Swamp (New Hanover) PA, who died in 1747, and second to Anna Maria Bossert (1729-1797), who survived him.
