- Harold H. Amick, Jr., 87, of Palmyra, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. He was born Wednesday, November 18, 1925 in Hardwick, VT to the late Harold H. and Bernice M. (Chaffee) Amick. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rita M. (Flannery) Amick.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a faithful member of Faith UCC, in New Cumberland, for 33 years, and was a member of Trinity UCC in Palmyra. Harold worked for Donald B. Stabler Construction Co. as a road construction supervisor for 36 years. He was a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers, VFW Fox-Eichelberger Post 7415 and American Legion William H. Nauss Post 143.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa K. Mills; a son, Harold R. Amick and wife Lillian M.; 3 grandchildren, Lewis C.J. Mills, Jr., Lee T. Mills, Catherine A. Amick; 2 great grandchildren, Andrew D. and Emily E. Amick; brother, Robert M. Amick and wife Sarah; 2 sisters, Doris Holter and Betty Motter. He was predeceased by a grandson, James A. Amick; a sister, Beverly Bathgate; 3 brother-in-laws, David Holter, Bill Motter, and Richard Bathgate.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10th at 1 PM at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, with The Rev. Julia A. Beall officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from noon until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
