- Diane E. Jones, 89, passed at her Curley St. home on Feb. 20, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and educated in Columbus, OH, the third child of Vernon H. and Gayle A. Smith (later Therres). Her family moved to Florida in 1948 and she married Joseph E. Jones in 1950. They were happily married for 61 years.
Diane was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in San Antonio, FL and sang in the church choir for over 50 years, and was co-founder of the Bereavement Committee.
She was past president of the Catholic Women's Club; co-founding member of the Garden Club, a member of the "Sweet Adelines" chorus since 1973; a charter member of Toast of Tampa Show Chorus; co-founder of the Leading Ladies Luncheon Group and a member of the San Antonio Bridge Club for about 50 years. She also helped organize the annual Christmas in the Park celebration.
She was employed as the secretary at St. Anthony School, the chief clerk for the Pasco County Health Dept, and City Clerk for the City of San Antonio, Florida for 13 years.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Joseph "Jack" Jones, son Steven, and grandson Robert Allen. She is survived by three daughters Jackie Victor-Lisnock (Tom), Cathy Sprigg (Jim), Loraine LaChance, and a son Larry Jones.
