- Barbara L (Long) Dreibelbis
September 13, 1930 - February 18, 2023
Centre Hall, Pennsylvania - Barbara L Dreibelbis, 92, of Centre Hall, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall. Born on September 13, 1930, in Howard, she was the daughter of the late Marrill and Ruth Ann (Pletcher) Long. On March 18, 1950, in Howard, she married the love of her life, John Henry Dreibelbis, who preceded her in death in December of 2016.
Barbara graduated from Howard High School in 1949. After she married John, she became a farm wife and homemaker, ensuring a safe and loving home for her family. After her children were grown and out on their own, she worked as a cook at Brookline Nursing Home for many years.
Barbara was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church in Spring Mills. She enjoyed spending time sewing and making quilts. She always loved to cook and spend time outdoors gardening when she was not helping work on the farm. One of her favorite past times was putting together jigsaw puzzles, especially after the loss of her husband. She was a strong, determined, and some say, feisty, woman. Although she was of small stature, she was a mighty woman who loved her family fiercely and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by four sons, Kevin Dreibelbis (Sheri) of Howard, Gary Dreibelbis (Amy) of Jersey Shore, Jeff Dreibelbis (Lisa) of James Creek, and Mike Dreibelbis (Karen) of Ellijay, GA; two daughters, Diane Baney (Larry) and Carolyn Sharer, both of Centre Hall; eight grandchildren, Hunter and Jaxson Dreibelbis, Makayla Dunlap (Ethan), Danan Sharer (Jody), Latisha Stefanko, Jason Baney (Lacy), Michelle Saiers (Brian), and Jim Dreibelbis (Tammie); 12 great grandchildren, Kyle, Lyndsey, Autumn, Garret, Maura, Jordan, Peyton, Easton, Tate, Emmett, Noah, and Hadley; and one sister, Mary Nanette Long of Centre Hall.
Along with her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Dreibelbis; her granddaughter, Linda Kay; son in-law, Bill Sharer; and daughter in-law, Joyce Dreibelbis.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 10am-11am, at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall. A funeral service will follow at 11am with Rev. Lauretta Dietrich officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest privately beside her husband at Centre County Memorial Park.
