- Michael C. Bechdel, 72, of Flemington, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at Haven Place, Lock Haven.
Born in Lock Haven on Nov. 20, 1949, he was the son of the late Daniel W. And Lois Schenck Bechdel.
Mike was a 1968 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On Dec. 5, 1969, he married the former Dottie L. Maggs Bauman, who survives in Flemington.
Mike was employed at Piper Aircraft until their closing and then worked as a Corrections Officer at the Clinton County Correctional Facility until his retirement as Lieutenant after 20 years of service.
He was a past member of the Flemington United Methodist Church.
Mike was an avid sports fan and played softball for many years on various local teams. He was also proud of his many years he served as Manager for the Flemington Girls Softball Team. Following his playing years, Mike became a loyal fan of his son’s, and later his grandson’s, athletic events.
In addition to his wife, Dottie, he is survived by his son, Chad (Susan Aikey) Bechdel, of Bellefonte; a brother, Jerry (Gail) Bechdel, of Howard; a sister, Bonnie (Ed) McCartney, of Howard; two grandchildren, Seth and Haley Bechdel; a great-grandson, Kobe Bechdel; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Larry “Buck” Bechdel.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. at the Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., Mill Hall, Pa., with Rev. Mark Riley officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the church on Monday from 6:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
