Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania - Allen Wilbur (Ike) Harpster, 90, of Warriors Mark died peacefully at his home on July 17, 2022 following a brief illness. He was born March 21, 1932 in Gatesburg, the son of Robert M. and Florence (Rossman) Harpster. On January 24, 1958 in Philipsburg he married Verna Eshbaugh who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters; Robin and husband Bruce Irwin of Warriors Mark, Sherry and husband Bill Ellenberger of North Carolina, Carol and husband Tom Kelly of Indiana State; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Erney Harpster of Warriors Mark; and sister Dorothy Johnson of Warriors Mark. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
He attended Ferguson Elementary School and graduated from State College High School. He served as corporal in the U.S. Army from December 1952 to December 1954. He retired from Penn State University. He was a member of the Gatesburg Lutheran Church and served on the Cemetery Association. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, watching Gunsmoke and sports, and country music.
Interment will take place in Gatesburg Cemetery. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
