- Olive J. Houdeshell, 88, of Marsh Creek, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Susque-View Nursing Home in Lock Haven.
She was born on July 14, 1921 in Howard Twp., the daughter of the late Jesse and Annie Baldwin Lucas.
She married George Houdeshell on November 19, 1938. George preceded her in death on March 4, 1988.
Olive was a homemaker and worked at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte for a number of years. She was a member of the pleasant Valley United Methodist Church where she was a past Treasurer. Olive was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Ladies Aid. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering and spending time at the Grange Fair.
Surviving are two daughters; Janice L. and husband Richard Thompson of Howard and Carol A. and husband Melvin Coakley of Beech Creek. A half sister; Sarah McCloskey of Buffalo, N.Y.; a half brother; Ardell Etters of Blanchard, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, six brothers and her step-father, William Etters.
The funeral will be Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard with the Pastor Doug Mellott officiatiing. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2010 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
