Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - Patricia "Pat" L. (King) McMurtrie, 84, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Born on September 3, 1937, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Vincent J. and Evelyn A. (Corman) King. On May 27, 1955, she married her beloved husband, Gilbert "Gib" McMurtrie, who preceded her in death on December 24, 2008, after sharing over 53 years of marriage together.
Pat was a graduate of Bellefonte High School. She worked many years at Wolf Furniture and retired as a teller from M&T Bank.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Leathers (Mark) of State College, and Jennifer James (Dave) of Pleasant Gap; three grandsons, Todd Leathers (Kristin) of Morris Plains, New Jersey, Tyler James (Jess) of Bellefonte, and Bryant James of Philadelphia; and three great grandchildren, Blake Rose Leathers, Jackson Gib James, and Vivian Arabella James. Also surviving is a brother, Ronald King of Bellefonte.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Shultz.
Pat was a member of the Greater Buffalo Run Valley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in flower gardens, bowling, and especially enjoyed spending time with her friends at the YMCA and her Red Hat friends. More than anything else, family was the most important aspect of Pat's life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished the many memories that were made over the years with them – cooking for her family on Sundays, being their #1 cheerleader at their sporting events, the many family trips that were taken, and she would always look forward to the annual trip to the cottage in Ocean City, New Jersey.
In honor of Pat's wishes, there will be no viewing, but a private memorial service held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pat's memory to the Bellefonte YMCA Senior Activities, by mailing checks payable to "Bellefonte YMCA" with "Senior Programming – In Memory of Pat McMurtrie" on the memo line, to 125 W. High Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823, or Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801, noting "In memory of Pat McMurtrie" on the memo line.
