- Charlotte Sheffer Holter was born on June 24, 1925, and died June 25, 2018. She was the only child of the late George W. and Ida C. Sheffer. She was predeceased in 2016 by her husband, Cecil K. Holter Jr. She is survived by her son, Kurt and wife Elisabeth, of Frederick, MD, and their children Colin and wife Jessica Narum, and Andrew, and son Eric and wife Kathleen of McGayhesville, VA and their children Clarke and wife Elizabeth, and Emily. She delighted especially in her two great-grandchildren, Charleigh and Will Holter, daughter and son of Clarke and Elizabeth.
Mrs. Holter was always devoted to children and young people. She taught in the Frederick County school system for a number of years following her graduation from Hood College in 1946. She rejoined the system in 1960 as a librarian, and from 1972 to 1986 was the county Supervisor of Library Media Services. In 1972 she received her Masters Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Maryland. Throughout her career she was a member of several professional organizations including the Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, where she was a past-president. She was also a life member of the Maryland Educational Media Organization. A member of Christ Reformed Church in Middletown for over 50 years, she served as a teacher, Youth Superintendent of the of the Sunday School, and an elder. Since February 1, 2000 she and her late husband were residents of Buckingham's Choice, in Adamstown, MD. The family wishes to thank the staff there for their kindness and compassionate care, as well as Dr. Yvette Warren, the staff of Frederick Memorial Hospital in the ED and on floors 3G and 4B, and Frederick County Hospice. Services will be private.
