- Homer G. Weight July 7, 1928 - November 29, 2006 Homer G. Weight, 78, of Howard, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home, early Wednesday morning, Nov. 29, 2006. Born July 7, 1928, in Howard, he was the first son of George E. and Geraldine Weight. On May 3, 1947, he married Beulah L. DeArment, who survives at home. He owned and operated Weight's Welding and Radiator Repair Shop in Howard since 1958. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, The Oddfellows, and Howard Fire Company. Homer attended Jacksonville and Howard High School; The Penn State University, where he became certified in Electric Arc Welding; and the Inland Radiator Training School in Omaha, Neb. for certification in radiator repair. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife; his daughter, Shirley Ann Gates and her husband, Sam; his daughter, Carolyn Lorraine Montgomery and her husband, Bob; and his son, Jeffrey George and his wife, Jody, all of Howard; two brothers, Henry and Ronald; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Following his wishes, there will be no public visitation. Memorial services will be Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at 11 a.m., at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jacksonville, with the Rev. Jack Archer officiating. Friends will be received at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Howard Fire Co., P.O.
