State College , Pennsylvania - Thomas C. Corman, 83, of State College, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 4, 2021. Born on October 31, 1937 in Bellefonte, he was a son of Clyde W. Corman Sr. and Miriam (Wyland) Corman. On April 14, 1960, he married Mary Jane Smith who preceded him in death in 2006. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three of his four siblings: Clyde W. Corman, Jr. of Bellefonte; Blanche Thompson of Bellefonte; Margueriete (Peggy) Reader of Morgantown, WV.
Tom is survived by two sons, Jeffrey T. Corman and his wife, Sharon, of Acworth, GA and Clifton Scott Corman and his wife, Doreen, of Howard; and two daughters, Molly B. McAninch, and her husband, Steven, of Port Matilda and Alice R. Schomer and her husband, Jeffrey, of Pennsylvania Furnace; 10 grandchildren - Andrew, Matthew, Wendi, Clinton, Kaitlyn, Bruce, Rachel, Mary Ellen, Heath and Allison; and 6 great-grandchildren. Tom is also survived by one brother, Darwin (Jake) Corman, and his wife, Sandy, of Milesburg.
Tom had an exciting childhood in Bellefonte and knew many people wherever he would go. He graduated with the Bellefonte High School Class of 1957. He worked hard and, starting as a young teen, had many jobs including jobs at Herman's News Stand and Schaeffer's Hardware. He continued in the retail hardware business for many years including managing Centre Hardware in downtown State College for over 20 years.
Tom served in the 112th PA Air National Guard and from 1961-62 he was activated into the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Crisis.
Throughout his life Tom served the Lord by serving the church in a variety of capacities. He especially enjoyed greeting and visiting with people. He also enjoyed collecting things, refurbishing lamps, watching Hallmark movies and home renovation shows, and all things hardware. A private service will be held for immediate family. A Celebration of Life with friends and extended family will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Awana Kenya program through State College Alliance Church or to the Missionary Fund at Romola Bible Church, Howard, PA.
