- Hazel R. Bowes, 88, of Jersey Shore, formerly of Howard, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, in ManorCare Health Services, Jersey Shore. Born Aug. 28, 1913 in Swissdale, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Sarah Keiffer Helbley. She was married to Thomas M. "Mac" Bowes. He preceded her in death in 1990. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Howard United Church of Christ, East Main Street, Howard. Rev. Dale L. Sattizahn will officiate. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Township. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. A Rebekah service will be at 8:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Howard United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 518, Howard, Pa. 16841.
