- Eileen Hovan Gardner Mace 82, of Beech Creek, died Saturday July 12, 2008 at her home.
She was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Howard, a daughter of the late John Hovan and Olive Gardner-Hovan Vaughn.
On Feb. 21,1942, in Beech Creek, she married James L. Gardner, who preceded her in death in 1969. In 1970 she married Edward R. Mace, who died in 1995.
Eileen had worked at Piper Aircraft,Sylvania, and also at Bobby Brooks. She then opened her own beauty salon, which she operated for 36 years, retiring in 2000.
She was a devoted member of the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, where she served on the Administrative Board.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Pierson, and her husband, Bernard, of Howard; a son, James D. Gardner and his wife, Cindy, of Howard; a sister, Freda Miller; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her spouses, she was preceded by a brother, Ross C. Gardner.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday July 14, 2008, at the Kader- Neff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 135 W. Main Street, Howard.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 16 Maple Ave., Beech Creek, with Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. Burial will be in Hays-Fearon Cemetery, Beech Creek.
