  Obituary	03/04/1933 - Services for Christian H. PLETCHER, 82, resident of Elkhart Co. for more than 50 years who died Sat. afternoon at Middlebury after brief illness were held Monday afternoon at St Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial in Grace Lawn Cemetery. s/o William and Anna EICHELBERG PLETCHER, was of pioneer stock. As a young child he came to Indiana with his family from his birthplace, Bowling Green, OH. in a covered wagon. The family settled first in a log cabin home near Columbia City. As a young many he also lived in LaGrange and Clinton Tp. Except for a residence of several years in Peabody, KS, where he was a merchange, farmer and later in coal business, he lived continuously in this county for 50 years. He was engaged in farming until he retired a few years ago. On Jan 30, 1890 he married Miss Philena C. BURNS, who survives together with three out of 8 children born to their union: Cletus S. of South Bend and Fred B and Ernest C of Chicago, 2 grch Gail PLETCHER of South Bend and Mrs. Lillian ROTH of Nappanee, a sister Mrs. Mary KAUFFMAN of Elkhart and three brothers Abraham near Goshen, Joseph J of Comins MI, and Samuel C of Lowell, IN. In his youth he was baptized into the Christian faith and was received into membership of St Pauls Lutheran Church in 1908. He was a faithful member of this congregation and served it twelve years as a trustee and two years as an elder. He was also an active member of the Brotherhood Bible Class.
