- Betty Anne Leamer, 88, of Boalsburg, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2012 at Greenhills Village, State College, PA.
Born April 29, 1924, in Pleasant Gap, she was the daughter of the late Jared Uriah Evey and Minnie Arminta (Twitmire) Evey. On June 27, 1966, she married Donald B. Leamer, Jr., who predeceased her in March 2012. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Bob Fost Jones, in 1955.
She is survived by a son, Larry E. Jones (Shirley) of Ardmore, OK; a daughter, Sharon L. Patrick (George) of State College; a stepdaughter, Mary Jo Rubin (Jay) of Belleville, PA; five grandchildren, Joshua McClintic of Santa Monica, CA, Travis McClintic of San Francisco, CA, Daniel Jones (Kali) of Ardmore, OK, Jamie Brown (Stephanie) of Bellefonte, Jeremy Brown (Sydney) of Port Matilda; and two great-grandchildren, Khloe and Kylie Jones. Also surviving are a sister, Thelma Beck of Lower Burrell, PA; two brothers, William Evey (Joan) of Preston, MD, and Gaylord Evey of Elmer, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald and LeRoy Evey; and three sisters, Margaret Evey Stover, Lilae Evey Miller, and Blanche Evey Dickson.
Betty Anne was a 1942 graduate of State College High School and began working out of high school at Cerro Metal and Brass Company in Bellefonte. She also did some part time work for a brief period in the Alumni Association Office at Penn State, but for the larger part of her life, she dedicated her efforts to being a wonderful homemaker.
Betty Anne had a great flair, as did her four sisters, for creating and maintaining a beautiful home and lovely gardens. She was a very warm and caring wife, mother, sister, Nana, friend, and neighbor. She will be greatly missed by friends and family but fondly remembered for that wonderful smile and her beautiful, bright blue eyes that always sparkled and had an extra twinkle that would appear with her whimsical remarks.
There will be a visiting hour from 10-11 AM on Friday, June 15, 2012 with a Memorial Service following at 11 AM at Heintzelman Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 201 Chestnut Ave., Altoona, PA 16601 or to Greenhills Village, 301 Farmstead Lane, State College, PA 16803.
Finally, this would not be complete without a special thank you to Patty Bowes, who gave wonderfully warm and caring assistance to Betty while still living in her home in Boalsburg. And, we also wish to extend a very special thank you to the Greenhills Village staff and "family" and the Home Nursing Agency Hospice staff for the very special care and support that they have provided to Betty Anne and for the additional support extended to her family over the past ten months.
