- Darrel W. Woomer, 72, of rural Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center. He was born August 21, 1941 in Lock Haven, the son of the late Floyd T. and Dora Nyman Woomer.
On March 10, 1961 he married the former Betty L. Meyers (Woomer), who preceded him in death on December 22, 2005. He had worked at Piper and then Centre County Solid Waste Authority. He attended the Runville United Methodist Church. Darrel enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his four daughters; Darla J. (Roger) Proctor of Julian, Karen A. (Roy) Struble of Beech Creek, Connie J. (Tracy) Stover of Port Matilda and Joan L. Parsons of Bellefonte; one brother, Lee Woomer of Marsh Creek and five sisters, Verda Haas of Howard, Relda Lyons of Milesburg, Elaine Heaton, Adalene Miller and Lois Bowes all of Marsh Creek. Also surviving is his companion, Judy Witherite. Darrel is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Jacy Clark, Tyler Proctor, Amber Scanlan, Jamie Day, Logan Struble, Cole Stover and Taylor Parsons and also his six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester Woomer, Richard Woomer, and Ralph Woomer.
Services will be held at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 2 P.M with Pastor Douglas W. Mellott officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from noon until 2 P.M. the time of the service. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Twp., Centre Co. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg, Pa.
